"Why did God allow this to happen?"

It appears to me that 90% of unbelievers became unbelievers for 1 reason. They do not understand how a loving God can allow addiction, suffering, death, etc. My answer to that question is this- FREE WILL. God wants us to love him, serve him, obey him, and live right. He has the power to make us do anything he wants, yet he doesn't do that. He loves us so much that he doesn't want to FORCE himself or his wishes upon us. What kind of loving person would force himself on others? That wouldn't be love! He created us and instilled within us: free will. The power to make our own decisions about life. When a person chooses to do the wrong thing, God doesn't stop them. That is free will. When someone does something wrong, it has consequences...sometimes for that person and sometimes for innocent bystanders.

When someone chooses to try drugs for the first time, they are risking some terrible consequences. Am I saying that person is at fault? Not at all...  SATAN is the master of deception and temptation. He uses every means possible to tempt us to sin, to do wrong, and to not follow Christ. Some of us are better at resisting temptation than others. (Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is the best way to resist those temptations! He will help you, I promise!) Satan tempts and deceives us by making bad things appear desirable: This thing will make you feel good, forget your troubles, look cool, sleep better, have more energy, fit in better, etc. They are all LIES!!!!!!! If one of those things (forgetting your troubles, feeling better, etc) does result from that bad choice- it's only temporary...and it has some disastrous consequences for you and everyone who loves you. PLEASE don't fall for satan's evil schemes!

"So if God allows these bad choices (which result in terrible consequences) there's nothing we can do about it, right?" WRONG! While he won't STOP someone from making a bad choice, there are 2 very important and absolutely wonderful things that he DID and WILL DO to combat the problem.

     1. God created people like you and I who have the compassion, love, and faith inside of us to make a difference. There are people who see an addict and think "Look at that loser." There are people who hear of an overdose death and say "Well, the drug problem is taking care of itself!" Then there are others, like me, who's heart breaks to see or hear of someone (anyone!) suffering with or losing their battle with addiction. Who sees the addict as a person; created by God; put here for a purpose; needing love, support, and guidance. The recent drug overdose death of an old friend was the "push" that I needed to DO SOMETHING about the current addiction epidemic. God instilled compassion in me for a purpose- this, I believe, is that purpose.

     2. God sent Jesus (who was God in the flesh) to die on the cross for OUR sins. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Jesus died in OUR place. He gave his life for US. So that we can have an amazingly perfect, happy, pain-free, eternal life in heaven someday.  All we have to do is believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths. If you are struggling with addiction right now (or if you aren't but you are ready to give your heart to Christ!) humble yourself: Go somewhere alone, clear your mind, and pray the following prayer:

Dear God, I am a sinner. I come to you asking for forgiveness of my sins. I confess with my heart and speak with my mouth that Jesus Christ is your son, and that he died on the cross for my sins.  I confess Jesus as Lord of my heart, my soul, and my life. I accept Jesus as my personal savior and I praise you for making a way for me. I declare by the blood of Jesus that I am saved. I invite you into my life, Lord, and I pray you continue to reveal your love to me by your holy spirit. I ask you to have your way with my life. (Optional- for ADDICTION: Please break these chains of self-destruction by the power of your cross, which destroyed sin and death.) I thank you for the new creation you have made me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

CONGRATULATIONS! We sincerely welcome you into God's family! Now go and tell at least 1 person that you have given your life to Christ! If you have no one to tell, tell us! We would love to hear from you! Just shoot us an email!

Next step: Get yourself a "New Believers Bible" to guide you in your relationship and walk with God. I highly recommend the NLT- New Living Translation version, as it is much easier to understand. If you are unable to get one for yourself, please let us know- we will get you one!

There is a great forum post here that I recommend checking out, also!
The most important thing you must do now is TALK TO GOD! Talk to him through-out your day, either out loud or in your mind/heart. Confess your sins, ask for guidance, pray for strength, etc. He is always there for you, anytime day or night! If you want to talk to someone, have any questions, etc- please feel free to email us any time as well. We are here for you and we believe in you!!!!
